9 days until I am a college graduate!
and
if my manager at Princess says I can bump up my start day, about 27 days until I start work in Alaska again!
Could I be more excited for my wonderful life?
I think not.

Branding my Cold?
15 days until graduation...
...16 or 17 days until I am back in good ol West Palm for a week or two...
...Then it is off to Utah for my best friend's wedding. I really couldn't be happier for this girl....
...THEN! Time to either fly to Alaska or road trip there....
So with all these approaching events, I decided I should finally finalize a resume and business cards. That is what I did today, as well as submit my business cards to a printer on the web. I should get them by May 24! Rounded edges, double-sided, and a pretty little holder to go with them. For kicks I almost ordered some magnets with my logo on them too, but I figured I could use that $13 towards some yummy food instead.

Here is my resume. I am sure it will go through many more changes just by the end of this summer, but this is what I have started out with. Back in the fall I designed my first personal logo prototype as a combination of my first and middle names, Hillary Rose. I decided some time ago that I would like to market myself as Hillary Rose rather than Hillary Olson. It has a better ring to it and is just prettier in general. I love love love my last name, but Hillary Rose works better for this. That said, my business cards will obviously always still say Hillary Rose Olson. Thank you very much Mom and Dad for giving me a great middle name!
The first logo that I developed for myself was the le
tter H placed next to a sketchy Rose which I made in the Adobe program Illustrator, I program that I am in LOVE with. It worked for the graphic design project that I had to complete with it, but I wasn't completely happy with it.
I really liked the idea of HRose and played around with more Hs next to a circular rose, which could resemble an O for Olson. The logo that I developed earlier this spring was the logo pictured to the right.
A few weeks back I decid
ed to begin design for my business cards. Once again, I had already made a few business card prototypes. This began in my graphic design class in the fall and continued as the career fair approached this year. The business card that I developed at the last minute for the career fair is the one that you see to the left. It needed a lot of work but I think I did a great job for putting it together in literally ten minutes. Holla! But seriously. This is what I handed out that day to HOK, along with a resume closely resembling the one above (with the older logo and slightly different colors, blah blah blah), and a teaser. That teaser was an embarrassment thanks to the dull exacto blades at the printing shop. Oh well. I am actually working on an idea for my teaser that I am pretty excited about...more to come on that. For anyone reading this unfamiliar with teasers as pertaining to portfolios, they are just a quick sample of about three of a persons best examples of work.
My new logo is something much simpler. I liked the original idea with the H and rose, but in the end it just did not work
out. I figured it could possibly come off as a little too tacky and not versatile enough. Upon looking at what I consider to be the most successful logos I have seen, I decided to simply go with text. I used color coding to get my point across. I am sure you have guessed that this is the wonderful logo pictured here to the right! By
using text and color change I aimed to keep a professional look which I could use for a variety of uses. I can change the colors as needed, keeping with two colors. The logo is mean to be seen as hillary rose, or hillary o, thanks to the wonderful world of color. Et Voila! A logo.
Following designing this logo, I came up with several business card layouts which I actually spent some time on rather than rushing to meet a deadline. Fortunately, I only really need to give this set of cards to professors and such as I leave Savannah, so I will be bale to rework them as I feel fit. Here are the final prototypes I came up with that I felt were worth considering. The front only had one template in a few different colors, versus the backs which are the varied cards.
My two basic ideas were purely vector files in Illustrator and that of picturing a few thumbnails of my work. The photo idea didn't turn out as great as I thought, and simple is always good, so I went with that. I am obsessed with circles, as my 2D design professor pointed out in only my first quarter at SCAD, so why not showcase that a bit. I can't wait to get my cards in the mail and hand them out to some professors! Is it too nerdy of me to be excited about this kind of thing?

Anywho, I would LOVE feedback from any and all of you guys on what you think about them! Liz, I know you will be like "oh Hilly I lerve them!" but I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism on my designs so I can rework them a few more times as well!
I am sure I have gone on long enough now about the beginnings of my personal branding package, so it is off for some grub now. At least having a cold means I am forced to stay in bed and do graphics instead of play in the park. Har har!
